What system is best for mining each of the diferent minerals?

Technically anything in null-sec in some ways, but anything common like Tritanium, Pyerite, etc can usually be mined best simply in ANY system in Safe space. Systems don't really vary much as far as minerals go as long as their security stats are the same.

WH mining ABC is the most profitable. Allthough, make sure you dont fly a ship you cant afford to loose. Also, its a good idea to bring a friend to kill the rats.

You can also scan out hidden asteroids belts which if I recall correctly (been a while since I last did it) can be done with the ships onboard scanner. (can anyone clarify that?)
You can get lucky and find semi-rare (well not common) ore in high sec as I once did with a hidden Gneiss belt in a 0.5 system in Heimatar.

High level Ores are only found in Low-sec/Null-Sec/WH-space, giving you the payout for the risk :)

Definitely use http://www.fluidorbit.co.uk if you're looking for a specific ore, since it also lists the likely rats on the belt, and the refinery quality and nature of any stations in the systems, so you don't have to haul raw ore for any distance.

There are some hisec systems that are filled with miners, however they are mostly after common ores found in abundance. If you are looking for systems with extremely rare ores there are two places you can look. Many 0.0 systems have rare asteroids in their belts. Wormhole systems often contain an even larger variety of asteroids like dark ochre, arkanor, mercoxit, etc. However with these come the risk of getting blown up. However if you do not take risks then why are you playing EVE? That is what makes it fun.

0.5 High-sec systems are safest with the best belts to safety, but then it goes low-sec which you'll find more higher-end asteroids, but is quite un-safe, then it goes 0.0 space which is also quite un-safe, then it goes wormholes which are pottentially not safe, but you have to probe down the higher-end sites, and they end up being really nice having arknor etc etc.
