Joining a corp is what make you play EvE Online rather than X3 Terran Conflict :D

If you don't have a corp, you could play X3, that would be almost the same as far as I am concerned.

The main reasons :

  • it's more fun
  • there is so much more you can do (higher end missions, production, PVP and so on
  • many corps provide their employees with advantages : discounted ships and equipment, free ships, insurance for PVP operations
  • you will benefit from the experience of your corpmembers
  • you won't feel like playing a solo game
  • you can access POS and BPO / BPC from your corp, and so on
  • you will have a better control over who you play with... NPC corp chats are... well you know what I mean ^^

There is much more to it of course, but EvE Online is an MMO, and should be played accordingly to take the full effect of the awesomeness of this game ;)

A main advantage is having people to join together with on missions/pvp roams etc.

Other advantages include: easier access each other's cans when mining together or wrecks when missioning together, raising POSes in high sec, tips and tricks from more experienced members, backup if under attack.

You may also have a character in corp with perfect refine/reproc skills that you can trust to hand all your minerals back. Lots of corps also offer free stuff to newbie characters.

But for me the overriding reason is to have a solid consistent set of people to hang around and chin-wag with :-)

Oh you can also test each other’s tanks/setups in high-sec without having to muck around “stealing” from each other’s cans to prevent CONCORD arriving.

Biggest reason is operational support. If you join a corp, you'll be able to get groups together to mine, PvP, do missions, or whatever you like.

You'll also gain players with a diverse skill pool, so you can delegate tasks based on skills and not have to do everything yourself. Different players may have access to different facilities.

There's also the social aspect. People to chat with, discuss things, and brag to are always important.

Another reason to join a corp is other members can help you on training. Many new players on eve get upset because there is so much to learn they end up quitting eve before they give it a chance. The advice from others in a corp will lend a hand on making eve a more easy game to play and to advance on. I Agree with other people on here it is nice to have someone to talk to when eve gets quiet at times.
