When Exactly Do You Become Visible When Decloaking?

When you decloak, do you become visible to an enemy as soon as you hit the button or once you're completely "visible"?

As soon as you hit the button as far as I know (minus lag).

Yep, when you click there’s a signal to the server. The time it takes you to decloak is the time is takes the signal to get there. Then the time it takes it to get back to your client or anyone else’s is when they see you uncloaking.

Basicaly as soon as you move you appear like a Xmas tree. Cause I guess our friend here meant “when you are cloaked after a jump inside a system…

Animation aside, you are visible in Overview (where it matters) from the moment the server receives your command. Of course that relay has to be sent back to each of the clients on grid with you to see it though. Best to work on the assumption that the moment you click you are visible and ignore the animation.

^^^ this goes for both deactivating a cloak or moving at a gate. if you are decloaked by an object, the server will know potentially before you do, but the point the module flashes red is when you will be visible in overview.

No, I meant when using a cloaking device.

After jumping threw a gate you will decloak if:

  • 60 seconds passes (SEE NOTE)
  • You move by aligning, warping, changing speed from 0.
  • Something (ship, pod, biomass, can, drone, drammiel) comes within 2km of you.

NOTE: I tested the cloak time.

  • :00 clicked JUMP on a system gate, not a region gate.
  • :10 Spawned on other side
  • 1:09 decloaked

So this is i'd say 60 seconds +/- 2 seconds on lag time and render time.

It’s 2000m, not km.
