Which drones are best?

Can someone please tell me what drones are best for running missions.

In terms of all around goodness the Gallente drones do the best. They do more damage and have more EHP than the others. The Minmatar drones are useful in PvP only and the other race's drones are useful if you need to do a certain type of damage.

Golden rule is: Use Gallente

I like the answer as far as Golden Rules go :) However I’m not against using target specific drones because in missions you do usually have warning of your opponents. I refit drones everytime I refit my tank.

Excellent answer. Just wanted to specify that the Minmatar drones used in pvp are the Warrior IIs, because they are fast enough to follow most interceptors.

Figure out what type damage your target rat is weakest towards and use that. Exactly as you would do with regular ammo. Gallente drones do more DPS, but in general sticking to the weakest resist other drones may out-DPS them against certain rats.

Try to use small drones against frigates, medium against cruisers and heavy or sentry drones against battleships.

Gallente against Serpentis, Sanshas, Rogue Drones, Blood Raiders and Guristas.

Minmatar against Angels.

Kinetic drones do more damage against a typical Guristas ship – thermal drones do 10% more base damage, but as all Guristas ships have therm resistance = (kin resist + 10), you will always deal more damage with Kinetic drones. The same is also true for Serpentis as it turns out.
