I'm thinking of setting up several PI outposts in a friendly wh and was wondering if I can manage them while I'm in N-space. I've already scanned several planets and their crazy rich.

Yes you can, but you cannot send your stuff to custom office unless you're in the WH... And I would suggest you to do so because, yes, they are crazy rich ;-)

Confirmed. I run PI on several planets inside a wormhole. You can activate your extractors while in highsec without problems. Just visit the wormhole every week or so to transfer the stuff to the customs hangar and empty it.
Plasma planets are also much more common inside wh's, which are very in k-space.

You can not scan the WH planets if you are out of the WHS, but you can manage it as stated. Check out this article for details.
